The End is Just the Beginning

“The End is Just the Beginning”

I’ve heard that countless of times before. “When one door closes, another door opens.” Or “Stories don’t end, …, they just turn into new beginnings.” Here in the Philippines, people would say walang forever (there’s no forever). Isn’t there? Because from where I am sitting, it seems like I am forever starting a new.

The end of the month of August became the end of our Rural Impact Sourcing Technical Training. I do not represent the voice of the Malaybalay RISTT scholars, but I will be forever grateful for the opportunity. I have met an amazing set of beautiful people. And in such a short period of time that I’ve been with them, I have satiated my craving for camaraderie.

Much like the movie The Breakfast Club, we started the training bringing with us our own personalities. It was a rumble of different temperaments. There were the sanguine, choleric, melancholic and phlegmatic. There was even a combination of these temperaments. There were the shy and quiet types, and of course the loud and boisterous ones. There were the brains and probably the know-it-all as well but somehow, we were brought together by the universe, for this one of a kind experience.

I was told to say something during our graduation ceremony, but…

Public speaking is one of my weaknesses. I’m a writer, not a public speaker. So I wrote it down.

Belief is the ignition that starts your motor. Enthusiasm is the fuel that gets you to where you want to go. Focus keeps you on track. When belief is added to the enthusiasm and the focus is there, it creates something magical.

The grueling 10 days of technical training plus the 21 days digital marketing campaign is not just a portion of the experience, but moments to treasure. For me, it was hectic yet fun-filled. It was during the technical training that I met friends and clients.

As a freelancer, joining this “Rural Impact Sourcing Technical Training” enhanced my freelancer skills. I was renewed and added excitement to continue my freelancing know-how. I’ve learned many things which I know will be of use even in my work area. I can apply the techniques and put into practice the knowledge and skills. I wish I could share the skills with others someday.

This is the best opportune time to thank the city government of Malaybalay, DICT & DTI for making all these possible. To our RIS trainer, Sir Marl Ian, for motivating us to move higher, aim for the goal and focus on it. You inspired us and bring out the best in us to shine for others. To allow each and every one of us to focus all our efforts and energies on becoming the right kind of person in this field of endeavor.

Let us all believe in ourselves that we could make a difference in our lives. The best time to start is now.

Good afternoon.

Don’t You (Forget About Me)
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ooh woh
Won’t you come see about me?
I’ll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out and
Love’s strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on
Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby
Don’t you, forget about me
Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t
Don’t you, forget about me
Will you stand above me?
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down
Will you recognize me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ooh woh
Don’t you try and pretend
It’s my feeling we’ll win in the end
I won’t harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security
Don’t you forget about me
I’ll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Going to take you apart
I’ll put us back together at heart, baby
Don’t you, forget about me
Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t
Don’t you, forget about me
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
When you walk away
Or will you walk away?
Will you walk on by?
Come on, call my name
Will you call my name?
I say
(Lala la la lala la la)
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
