RIS Technical Training (Day 4) – CRM & Email Follow Through

After the introduction to Zoho, which is an online Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software used to managing sales, marketing & support in a single system, and the basic how tos of using Google Analytics which is an analytics tool used to measure ROIs, scholars began adding additional plugins and set-up payment options during the 4th day of the RIS Technical Training. But the Micro, Small, Medium Enterprise (MSME) owners were not required to come back for the training. So scholars need to find ways to communicate with MSME partners to finalize the payment method thru Paypal.

Other than the tools mentioned above, we had an intensive training about Content Writing and various tools needed by freelancers such as Trello and Hubspot. While the training was on-going, it got me thinking that there is more than meets the eye if you want to become a successful content writer.

Skill Sets Needed

  1. Flexible writing style is a learned skill set. With practice and familiarity, you can get better every day. Just like any skill, the quote “practice makes perfect” is a misconception. Repitition is useless if you do not learn from it. So I ‘d say write everyday. Don’t get tired of editing what you wrote. Use grammar checkers if you must. And learn.
  2. Getting to know your “buyer’s persona” is a skill set introduced to us during the first day of training. Knowing your target audience is a helpful skill for content writers simply because you write for them. Not for you, your company or your brand. This is where keyword searches would come in handy, but is yet to be discussed during the training. If a content writer is able to build a buyer’s persona, it would be easier to know what you are up against. And it would also enable you to create catchy titles.
  3. Originality is said to be a content quality for something new and inventive. It may seem impossible but if you can’t invent, then innovate. It is the key for an effective Google ranking. It is what works especially if you want high readability for your Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Which brings us to …
  4. Being equipped with a bit about HTML, CSS and a bit of SEO and WordPress know-how goes a long way. And tools like grammarly, and Copyscape helps a lot too.
  5. Social Media skills is the cherry on top for content writers. It is how you reach your target audience and potential buyers and clients. With these skill sets, you could never go wrong.
