RIS Technical Training (Day 1) – Branding
Coming in during the Day 1 of the RIS Technical Training, I have expected already that everybody would have to make introductions. And I was not disappointed. We were asked to tell something about ourselves, our reason as to why we are here, how we think would we survive this training and if we were a superhero, who would we be. Our trainer talked about 2 things that resonated with my life and is currently in tuned with – moving on and self-pity.
Moving on
I introduced myself as someone who has been to hell and back. Which is why I always tell my son to “keep moving forward.” Amidst any challenges, we always keep in mind that everything is temporary, and we always remember to just “keep moving forward.”
Self-pity
The adversities I have overcome defeated me at one point of my life, but some higher power gave me a second chance in life. And how did I repay this? By getting addicted to self-pity, haunting me in the form of relapse. But I made a choice – to join RIS Technical Training.
When I heard him talk about these two things, I know that I am where I am supposed to be. And during the 1st day of training, I am reintroduced to the world of freelancing.

Branding
It is a product or company’s identity. It is how your customers see or perceive a certain product or company. And it is a must for your brand to stand out. A brand needs to be fascinating, here’s how:
- Be a game changer. Deviate and showcase your prowess of creativity. Innovate.
- Be passionate. Irrationality works. Appeal to the emotion of your target audience if you have to.
- Take the lead. Confidence is power.
- Be prestigious. Talk with the language of excellence.
- Be trustworthy. Provide stability and show loyalty.
- Incite curiosity. Listen.
- Have a sense of urgency.
Branding Objectives
- Be sure to deliver a clear message.
- Confirm your credibility.
- Connect emotionally to your target market.
- Motivate your buyer.
- And create user loyalty.
Develop Your Buyers’ Persona
This semi-fictional representation is based on your market research and real data about your existing customers. Develop a buyer’s journey through:
- Awareness – by knowing how your buyers describe and educate themselves with their goals and challenges. What are the consequences and misconceptions does your buyer have about addressing their goals and challenges?
- Evaluate – consider categories. Get yourself educated about categories and how your buyers perceive pros/cons and how your buyers decide which category to delve into.
- Decide – how do you compare to your alternatives? Who is involved in the decision making? What are your buyers’ expectations and are there any additional preparations needed?
With all these in mind, be sure to evaluate your brand. Relate to your target audience. Be sure to reflect the values and brand promise of your product or company.
